Monitor brightness chart
Updated 18 Oct 2026
Brightness for 149 production monitors, sorted brightest first. 1 nit = 1 cd/m², so the two units are the same.
As a rough guide, monitors around 1,000 nits and above are marketed for outdoor use, while 300 to 500 nit panels are suited to shade, interiors or video village with a hood. Figures are as listed on each item's GEARMATH page, which records manufacturer specifications. Check the manufacturer before you rely on a number.
