Flying with camera batteries (V-Mount and B-Mount)
Updated 18 Oct 2026
Spare lithium-ion batteries, including V-Mount and B-Mount packs, must travel in your hand luggage, never in checked baggage, with the terminals protected against short circuit.
The UK Civil Aviation Authority sets three bands for each battery: up to 100 Wh is allowed without approval; 101–160 Wh needs approval from the airline and you may carry no more than two such spares per person; above 160 Wh is not allowed as passenger baggage. Airlines can be stricter, so check with yours before you fly.
The watt-hour rating is printed on the battery. If only mAh is shown: Wh = (mAh ÷ 1000) × nominal volts.
Packs up to 100 Wh (37 in the registry)
Packs from 101 to 160 Wh: airline approval, max two spares (29 in the registry)
