DJI RS 4 vs DJI RS 4 Pro

Updated 26 Oct 2026

The RS 4 and RS 4 Pro share the same control layout, the same touchscreen and the same 360° per second motors on every axis. The real question is what you're putting on them. The Pro carries 50% more weight, has a bigger battery and is heavier itself, and it costs roughly £330 more in the UK.

All specs below are from DJI's own spec pages for each gimbal. Prices were checked at UK and US retailers on 26 October 2026.

Which one fits your camera

DJI's payload figure is a tested load with the gimbal balanced, so leave some headroom. A mirrorless body with a small or medium lens, a follow focus motor and a small monitor usually sits comfortably on the RS 4. Once you're running a cinema body like a Sony FX6 or a Canon C70, a heavy zoom, a matte box or a wireless video transmitter, the RS 4 Pro's 4.5 kg is the safer choice.

DJI lists the Pro's USB-C transmission port for a LiDAR range finder as well as video transmission. On the standard RS 4 the same port is listed for video transmission only.

The trade-off is size. Folded, the Pro is about 45 mm longer and 51 mm wider, and the gimbal alone is about 176 g heavier. That adds up when you're holding it at arm's length all day, so if your rig fits the RS 4's payload, the smaller gimbal is easier to live with.

Renting instead

If you only need a gimbal for a few shoot days a year, renting the Pro for the heavy days and keeping a lighter setup for the rest is often cheaper than buying the bigger gimbal outright. The rental house directory shows which houses list gimbals.
