Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K G2 vs 6K Pro

Updated 26 Oct 2026

The 6K G2 and the 6K Pro are the same camera in almost every way that shows up in the footage. Blackmagic's tech specs list the same Super 35 6K sensor, the same 13 stops and dual native ISO, the same EF mount, the same Blackmagic RAW and ProRes options, the same media and the same NP-F570 battery.

Two things separate them: the Pro has a four-position built-in ND filter and a 1,500 nit HDR touchscreen. The G2 has no ND and Blackmagic doesn't quote a brightness figure for its screen. Whether that's worth the difference in price depends on where you shoot.

Is the ND worth it

If you shoot outdoors at wide apertures, yes. Without internal ND you need screw-in or matte box filters to get down to a usable exposure in daylight, and every lens change means swapping or stacking glass. The Pro's 2, 4 and 6 stop filters are built into the body, so they work with every lens you mount, and Blackmagic lists two dedicated ND buttons on the controls.

The brighter screen matters for the same people. A 1,500 nit panel is readable in sun, which saves carrying a monitor or a loupe for handheld work.

If you mostly shoot interiors under your own lights, or you already own a matte box and filters, the G2 gives you the identical image for less money. Both take the same optional EVF and battery grip, so you can build either one up later.
